A Psalm for Today: Psalms 38:15

A Psalm for Today: Psalms 38:15
For in You, O Lord, I hope; You will hear, O Lord my God.

We see David, in this psalm, distressed in body and soul. It seems he has great infirmity and his heart is heavy, weighed down with trouble. Because of his disease family and friends have pulled away from him. His enemies see his weakness as an opportunity to attack him. As you read this psalm you cannot help, but feel compassion for David; he seems to be holding on by a thread. Yet, in the midst of his troubles he makes a declaration of faith. His hope is in the Lord. Hope is the confident expectation of a desired end. He declares that the Lord will hear him. David knew just as we can know that if the Lord hears us, He will answer us. 1 John 5:14,15 says," Now this is the confidence that we have in Him that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us. And if we know that He hears us, whatever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we have asked of Him." Many of us have been in positions where we felt like we were sunk if the Lord didn't come to our aid and obviously He did.
