A Psalm for Today: Psalms 53:2

A Psalm for Today: Psalms 53:2
God looks down from heaven upon the children of men, to see if there are any who understand, who seek God.

There are many scriptures about seeking God. "And you will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart." Jeremiah 29:13. " Seek and you will find." Luke 11: 9 The verb there is present imperative which means to seek and keep on seeking. I think of several other verses which this verse brings to mind. In 2 Chronicles 16:9 we see the eyes of the Lord are searching for those with hearts that are perfect toward Him. In John 4 the Samaritan woman tries to take the attention away from herself when she recognizes Jesus as a prophet and throws out the question as to which mountain it was right to worship on. Jesus responded that the time was coming and at hand that true worshippers would worship the Father in spirit and in truth and that the Father was seeking those to worship Him. The thing that strikes me in these verses and others I could mention is that God is seeking those who are seeking Him. If one truly understands the love of God and that Jesus Christ is the way to eternal life, how can they not seek Him? It is not the fearful expectation of God's wrath that brings men to repentance; it is His kindness." Without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him." Hebrews 11:6." Draw near to God and He will draw near to You." James 4;8a The Lord is seeking seekers.
