A Psalm for Today: Psalms 39:7

A Psalm for Today: Psalms 39:7
"Lord make me to know my end, and what is the measure of my days, that I may know how frail I am."

God gives grace to the humble. True humility is the recognition that apart from God we can do nothing. We cannot preserve our lives. I knew of a well known minister who lived a very healthy lifestyle and was in extremely good health, yet he died in a plane crash. The Lord knows our days; He knows the end from the beginning. It is important to recognize that this life is but a vapor. It is good to be disciplined in body, but only God can sustain us. This physical life is fragile and can be gone in an instant. We must set our eyes on the eternal. Listen to the words of Paul, " Therefore we do not lose heart. Even though our outward man is perishing, yet the inward man is being renewed day by day. For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, is working for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory, while we do not look at the things which are seen, but at the things that are not seen.or the things which are seen are temporary, but the things which are not seen are eternal.." 2 Cor. 4:16-18   If we focus on the temporary, when things go bad we lose hope. If we focus on the eternal we know that we have a hope which is sure and cannot be taken away by death or physical circumstances.
